投稿標題(英): Development of Web-Based COVID-19 Dashboards for Disease burdens and Hospital Capacity

投稿摘要: Objectives: The Incident Command Center for COVID-19 pandemic has established since January 23 at this 2600-bed teaching hospital in Northern Taiwan. Superintendent chaired daily briefing and multidisciplinary or cross sector policies were made efficiently. This study aimed to develop web-based COVID-19 dashboards which report data visually and dynamic for healthcare system management. Here we describes the development framework of this information system, designs a actionable layout for data presentation, and evaluates its performance.
Methods: Indicator themes of COVID-19 dashboards are cases, testing, hospital care and health care capacity. Data were extracted daily in the midnight and now instantly from web-based health information system and laboratory information system. Data included number of incident cases with positive results of SARS CoV-2 RT-PCR, number of confirmed cases diagnosed in this hospital and those referred from other hospitals or community-based quarantine hotels, active cases who receive COVID-19-specific isolation precaution, numbers of beds in dedicated wards or ICUs taking care of COVID-19 patients, number of healthcare personnel with COVID-19. Two types of visualization per dashboard are chart and table. Colored coded presentation for different breakdowns provided additional information.
Results: It took an average of 8.4 hours for providing aforementioned data using conventional methods, that is, manually collected and calculated data of each item and provided figures and table for presenting in daily briefing. On the other hand, it took only 16 minutes using the system for the same tasks.
Conclusions: For the purpose of data-driven decision making facing the rapidly evolving pandemic, integration of data such as staff and stuff in addition to demands (cases) and capacity of beds are important for hospital management.
